Monkey River Tour starts with a 1-hour drive from Hopkins Village to Placencia, where your boat will pick you up for a ride through the lagoon to Monkey River. 12 miles south of Placencia lies the village of Monkey River, located on the southern bank of the mouth of the Monkey River.
As you go up the river, your eyes will be greeted with beautiful flora and fauna where your guide will point out various wildlife like, birds, crocodiles, green iguanas, Howler monkeys, and at times you may spot a tapir or even a jaguar. Stop for a hike through the jungle as your guide will lead you on a walk to the Howler monkey habitat, this is where you will spot troops of Howler monkeys in the trees and at a times on the ground.
The guided boat ride itself is an enjoyable experience. Knowledgeable guides navigate through the river's twists and turns, offering informative commentary about the environment and wildlife you encounter along the way.
