Our Monkey River Tour begins with a scenic 1-hour drive from Hopkins Village to Placencia. From there, we'll embark on a relaxing boat journey through the lagoon, reaching Monkey River Town, a charming village situated 12 miles south of Placencia on the Monkey River's southern bank.
Take a Guided Boat Ride and Hike to See Exotic Wildlife
As you go up the river, your eyes will be greeted with beautiful flora and fauna where your guide will point out various wildlife like, birds, crocodiles, green iguanas, Howler monkeys, and at times you may spot a tapir or even a jaguar. Stop for a hike through the jungle as your guide will lead you on a walk to the Howler monkey habitat, this is where you will spot troops of Howler monkeys in the trees and at a times on the ground.
The guided boat ride is a delightful experience in itself. Expert guides skillfully navigate the river’s twists and turns, sharing insightful commentary about the surrounding environment and the wildlife you encounter along the way.

On your return boat ride from Monkey River to Placencia, your guide will stop by some shallow grassy area near the mangroves, where the West Indian Manatee inhabits. Experience watching the manatees feeding in their natural feeding habitat
